Rumors are swirling that The Weeknd is dropping his “My Dear Melancholy,” follow up on May 11.
The rumor mill has been in action ever since before The Weeknd dropped his surprise EP My Dear Melancholy, in late March as his fans speculated on the possibility of an imminent release. With MDM out, the gossip surrounding the project ended up being true. In fact, Weeknd’s manager and XO executive Tony Sal had liked the cover art on Instagram before it had officially dropped, fueling talk that a project was on the way. A few weeks ago, it seemed as though a trilogy of EPs could be in effect, continuing an early tradition Abel started early in his career. If all signs are to be trusted, the follow-up to My Dear Melancholy, could arrive as soon as this week.LA Leakers posted a tentative album cover for the rumored upcoming project We’re Alone Together, a name that Abel had included on his Instagram profile. Adding even more fuel to the fire, the Canadian artist is using an image from the suggested cover artwork as his avatar on social media as he still includes “we’re alone together” as his bio. Tony Sal double-tapped the LA Leakers-posted version of the cover, all but confirming that the second installment of Weeknd’s series is on the way. Putting things into a realistic context, Sal could simply be trolling fans of the artist but this same strategy was used in advance of his March project. What do you think? The current rumor is that the EP will release on May 11. Is there any truth to the speculation?
